Machine Method Certifications
Currently, there are four types of methods used for micropigmentation in the permanent cosmetic industry. One may implant pigment with either: the rotary or pen machine, a coil machine, a digital machine or by using the hand-held method, i.e., SofTap. The use of any one or all of these methods, if properly trained, will result in beautiful permanent cosmetic procedures.

Lynn Duncan, OTR, CPCP is an Accredited Trainer/Instructor for the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals, and is certified to teach any one of the above-mentioned machine or hand-held methods (SofTap) to students. Basic and Advanced programs are available to anyone seeking to learn the art of micropigmentation or for experienced technicians desiring to enhance their skills with varied techniques by learning a new method with a different machine or device.

When a rotary machine is in motion, the needles perform a "forward and backward" movement during micropigmentation. The needles of a coil machine while in motion perform a reciprocal movement, much like that of a sewing machine. Lastly, the digital machine, which is much more costly, is a pen-shaped rotary machine with digital features. Again, all three types of machines perform great results. The choice of machine to use is based on individual preference.

No matter which type of method you may choose to learn, Lynn Duncan believes that the level of confidence you receive during your training will ultimately impact on your success when starting your own business. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose a trainer who conducts personalized training within an environment with lots of hands-on experience under the direct supervision of your instructor. Also, to help your business get off to a great start, time is spent discussing marketing strategies that really work!

Because Lynn Duncan understands the importance of being available to all of her students for on-going telephone technical support, she is always there for any questions for years following their training.
